“Blue Ocean Floor” is one of the most choice cuts on the new Justin Timberlake album - especially considering how wonderfully it hues to some similar sounds recently created by artists like How to Dress Well, Active Child, and Rhye. That being said, it’s easy to love the work on display here - synths reversed and warped to create a disorienting beauty that lines up perfectly with Timberlake’s gorgeous falsetto. The somber lyrics of loss bring forth an interesting expression from the artist. He doesn’t push the melancholy, rather letting it flow and build as the song spreads forth. It’s a pretty special track. Something absolutely worth celebrating on an already strong album.
